I purchased the 2.5 LBS plate set to add to my dumbbell collection. Great option for the price to increase weight.
I just bought this set of 2.5 lbs red db plates to expand my dumbbell set (above 50 I havs 10lb increments). I also have a set of 1.25 lbs db plates (in blue). I use them on REP dumbbells (the rubber heads with non-ergo handles).
The 2.5 pound plates do their job, but they are somewhat poorly put together. The rivets holding the two halves of the plate together are nowhere near flush. Each of them have gaps, with the worst being around 2mm. In addition, the machined corners of the metal are sharp - this is the same as my 1.25lbs set. I haven't cut/scraped myself yet, but it really seems like a matter of time.
The value is still here; I really like how securely these lock in and the creative way an age-old problem has been solved. Just pointing out where I think there is room for improvement.
The weights are great, only issue is I have easy grip dumbbells and the micro gainz weights slide inwards pinching my hands. If only there was a way to keep them in place they would be perfect.
It's so nice to be able to take my 50's, 60's, & 70's, and turn them in 55, 65, & 75. It has added three more set's of dumbbells to my rack. Plus, I really like the ease of removing these weights, to get a couple of extra reps.
These miniplates are great and very easy to put on and take off. Quality is excellent. They work best with larger dumbbells. 60lbs or greater. Would highly recommend.
